A welcome from the
Mayor of Greensboro

On the opening day of the 59th Annual Convention, Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter welcomed the Gospel Music Workshop of America to Greensboro, North Carolina.

The 50th Mayor of the city, she greeted the workshop family as it gathered for a week of worship, music, and ministry, opening her city’s doors to a movement that has shaped gospel music for nearly six decades.

vision to the world

Rev. James Cleveland called friends together in 1967 to build a home for gospel music. More than half a century on, that home spans continents — guided today by Bishop Albert L. Jamison, Sr., who has served the workshop since 1970 and chaired its board since 1996.
