A son of Brooklyn who has given his life to the church, the choir, and the calling — and who has carried the world’s largest gospel music organization for nearly three decades.

Bishop Albert L. Jamison, Sr. is a native of Brooklyn, New York, where he serves as Pastor of Pleasant Grove Tabernacle — holding the rare honor of pastoring the very church in which he was born and raised, a place where the gifts of the Holy Spirit are powerfully manifested.
He is the husband of Lady Dianette Jamison and the proud father of Jourdan Allen and Joshua Jermelle Jamison. His eldest son, Albert J. Jamison, Jr., preceded him in death in January 2001.
His walk in ministry unfolded step by faithful step: ordained an Elder in 1980, called to the pastorate at Pleasant Grove in 1983, ordained a Reverend by the Eastern Baptist Association in 1984, and consecrated a Bishop in 1998 at the 31st Annual Session of the GMWA in Philadelphia. Today he serves as Presiding Prelate of the “Pentecost At Any Cost” Fellowship and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Perfecting Christian Pentecostal Connections.
Bishop Jamison began working alongside the late Rev. James Cleveland in 1970 — the founder and president of the GMWA himself. For more than two decades he served the organization from within, close to its heart and its heartbeat.
While serving on the Board of Directors, he was voted Chairman of the Board in March 1996. In the years since, he has taken the world’s largest gospel music organization — with tens of thousands of members and chapters across North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Caribbean — to new heights, all while never leaving the pulpit or the choir stand that shaped him.
Long before the gavel, there was the music — and it has never stopped.
Nationally known for eight recorded albums, with a 1979 Grammy nomination for “In God’s Own Time, My Change Will Come.”
Gave the choir of “People United to Save Our Children” a rich, diverse ministry — earning the 20th Annual Dove Award for Contemporary Black Gospel.
Four decades of pastoring the church of his birth — through seasons of joy, loss, and even a global pandemic, he still declares God faithful.
