The 59th Annual Convention opened the only way gospel knows how — with a room full of praise. Presented by the Gospel Music Workshop of America, the Mega Musical gathered the family under Chairman Bishop Albert L. Jamison, Sr. for a night that set the tone for the entire week.
The evening carried a special weight of honor, lifting up two pillars of the tradition — the legendary Shirley Caesar and Luther Barnes — alongside a stage full of artists carrying the sound forward. From the first note, Greensboro knew the workshop had arrived.
